The US EB-5 Investor Program

The United States is a top destination for international investors seeking permanent residency. The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, established by Congress in 1990, offers a streamlined path to obtain a green card.

Each year, the U.S. government allocates a significant number of visas for individuals willing to make a substantial and qualified investment in the country, thereby stimulating job creation in the U.S. economy. Through this program, investors and their immediate family members can secure permanent residency in the United States within a relatively short timeframe.

Requirements Of US EB-5 Residency By Investment

Requirements for US residence through investment under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program involve investing in a new commercial enterprise affiliated with government-approved regional centers, aimed at bolstering economic growth.

Upon approval, successful applicants are granted conditional green cards valid for two years. At the end of this period, the conditions can be removed upon demonstrating job creation or preservation to US immigration authorities.

The key requirements are:

  1. Choose one of the following investment options:

    • Invest $1,050,000 in a project located outside of a targeted employment area (TEA)
    • Invest $800,000 in a project situated within a TEA, typically a rural area or one with high unemployment rates
  2. Generate or maintain 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified US workers.

The transition to a regular green card does not impact the holder’s rights and privileges in the USA.

Procedures And Time Frame Of USA Residency By Investment

To apply for the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, applicants must complete the designated forms and submit them along with the required fees and supporting documents. Spouses and unmarried children under 21 years of age can also apply for green cards as derivative applicants without the need for additional financial contributions, but they must provide their own documentation.
